- A Toast! -

Bonne année, y’all! Happy 2019!

It’s been just over a year (what?!) since this little shop officially fell into my hands full time, so I suppose it’s about time for me to get this website up and running!

It’s also been a truly wild ride. We’ve hosted some of our favorite people and their beautiful artwork, started new partnerships with phenomenal makers, joined forces with our neighbors to create Ferry Street Friday (mark your calendars — the next one is March 1st!), and have been generally blown away by your support and encouragement in taking on this endeavor.

Firstly, a huge thank-you to Sara Knighton, the queen bee of Maidens of the Pacific, who entrusted me with the reins of Maiden Astoria (later to become Lodestar Goods) in December 2017. Sara taught me how to run a shop, how to screen print, and how to maintain a sunny disposition, and now she’s living out that sunny life in Hawai’i. Make sure to check out her creations at Maidens of the Pacific!

Secondly, endless gratitude goes to my support system. There is a very long list of people to thank here, but in particular I want to recognize my mom and dad (Melody and Bob), who have been there every step of the way to make sure I don’t blow anything up. If you’re in the shop on Thursdays, say hello to Melody! She’s my only “employee,” but she certainly deserves Employee of the Month every single month. I want to thank Andrea for all of the ways she’s been a pillar of support this past year, be it through physical labor, emotional support, or letting me sell her stellar oil blends in the shop (and now we’re roommates, too, so hopefully she doesn’t get sick of me anytime soon!). I also want to thank Will, who’s been encouraging, level-headed, practical, and a whole slew of other things I’m not, and who has become an invaluable collaborator and consultant in all creative pursuits — thank you for showing up, and thank you for pushing me forward, even when I push back.

There are more, obviously, but I can’t write a book here just yet. In all, this community of mine has been a boon in ways I didn’t know were possible, and for that, I cannot say “thank you” enough.

Stay tuned for some upcoming projects at the shop, information about the next Ferry Street Friday, workshops, Art Walk showings, and more!

Thank YOU, also, for caring enough to read through this, and for supporting a small, womxn-operated business. You’re making a difference, and it does not go unnoticed.

In gratitude,

Emily Anne
